Experiential Learning (Volunteer, Internship, Co-op) Information

Ways to find or search for an Experiential Learning opportunity:

•  Meet with a Center for Career and Academic Planning staff member to discuss your internship needs by visiting our office, Suite 3125 in the David Student Union or by calling 757-594-8887

•  View many different listings of internship opportunities located in our office which can be viewed by CNU students and alumni

•  Call us to create an account as a CNU student or alumni on Symplicity, CNU's own career search database, to explore various internship opportunities

• Visit Experiential Learning web sites for various internship listings:

•  Are you a CNU alum? Great...We provide FREE alumni services for life!

  Ways to prepare for an Experiential Learning opportunity:

•  Meet with a Center for Career and Academic Planning staff member for assistance preparing your resume, cover letter, reference information, interviewing skills, or any other career-related service you need to succeed in your experiential learning and career search.

•  Be proactive and start to explore opportunities no later than the Fall semester prior to the summer you are seeking an internship/co-op.

•  Congratulations! You should be proud of your accomplishment.

•  Our office is in charge of maintaining a list of student internship participation .

•  Whether you received an internship/co-op through the Center for Career and Academic Planning, a faculty member, or through your own search efforts, we want to hear about it!

•  Contact the Center for Career and Academic Planning at ccap@cnu.edu with the following information:

•  CNU Student Name        •  Internship Employer Name

•  Major                               •  Location

•  Year in College               •  Duration (example: May-August 2008)

CNU student's internship/co-op experience feedback is important:

•  We value your opinion about the quality, skill development, and other important aspects of your internship experience.

•  Your experience is important to us! We want to be able to assist CNU students in the future with their internship/co-op search the best way possible and believe your feedback will help with this process.

•  We provide CNU students and alumni with a self-evaluation form for you to share your outstanding and challenging experience you had during your internship/co-op

. •  Email ccap@cnu.edu or stop by our office to pick your self-evaluation up today!
